“Bread & Roses” was a solo exhibition held at Paper Hat Gallery in Chicago in 2021

Inspiration for this work was primarily drawn from ephemera disseminated during the time of the Haymarket affair (specifically pieces pulled from the Haymarket Scrapbook by Anarchist Press. The show was born out of an idea to take those concepts that moved the minds of workingmen and women in Chicago in 1886, and place them alongside modern-day parallel ideas revolving around religious obedience and exploitation of power. It consisted of four 24x30” chainstitched banners, eight 8x10” chainstitched banners, a 36in x 52” piece of hand-constructed iridescent stained glass, and a limited edition 18x24” holographic screen print.
